Our Story
Hinck's Turkey Farm is a 3rd generation, family-owned and operated, farm-based retail food and catering business. Our family operation is composed of two facilities, each working synergistically to provide the freshest, pure and simple food items for our retail customers.
First, our farm and USDA processing facility is located in the Glendola section of Wall Township, New Jersey. This is where approximately 8,000 to 10,000 turkeys are raised and processed for sale through our sister operation, our retail market on Atlantic Avenue, also located in Wall Township. Choose from Fresh Oven-Ready, Cooked (Rotisserie Barbecued) or as the base product for many food products including sliced deli turkey, turkey salad, turkey soups, turkey potpies, turkey burgers, turkey meat loaves, turkey fillets, turkey London broils, etc.
At our retail market, our farm-fresh turkeys, turkey products, as well as a select line of fresh and homemade food items are available for those seeking unmatched care and quality, with individualized attention from a local, small family operated, farming business.
Having developed a reputation for our high quality, farm-fresh, oven-ready turkey, it wasn't long before many customers encouraged us to take the next step and cook their all-natural turkeys. We started cooking turkeys at our farm store on a rotisserie and made gravy and stuffing from New Jersey Farm Grange recipes for our customers. This was the beginning of our entry into the preparation and sale of “convenience”, or “value-added” items using turkey as the product base and focal point of this new venture.
As this phase of a seasonal business developed, in 1955, our retail farm-oriented store was opened (off the farm) in a rented diner in the business district of fast growing Neptune, NJ. Although this phase of seasonal business prospered, we realized the potential in offering even more convenience-type items at the request of our customers; thus the beginning of our specialized catering service.
In 1968, a second retail store was opened further south, on Atlantic Avenue, in Wall Township (across from the Circle Factory Outlet Center). Outgrowing the first store, in 1977 the Neptune store was vacated and a new building, three times its' size was constructed further north in Ocean Township.
Customer requests/responses have brought about many of our famous Turkey Specialty Sandwiches, Salads, and Dinner combinations, which constitute the majority of our lunch and dinner trade to this day. With the introduction of a Hot food merchandising case, our customers may buy individual turkey dinners or a complete dinner for 10 or more people. We still use only the freshest ingredients for our homemade mashed potatoes, salads, etc.
Today, convenience items along with an array of delicatessen and gourmet products may be purchased at our retail location. Take out food and buffet catering represent a large segment of the Hinck operation, where over 10 employees prepare daily a variety of culinary items from buttered rolls and coffee to a completely prepared dinners.
At Hinck's, whether it's farm-fresh turkey, a fresh salad, or any one of our other fully prepared products, all items are sure to meet the discriminating tastes of our customers. Remember our slogan: At Hinck's "We're Talkin' Home Grown Home Made Goodness".
